The Unknown Portugal


Portugal has many discoveries to offer.

The wide, untouched landscapes between the Atlantic Ocean, from the west and the mountains in the east, are astounding in the region. Cork oaks, olive groves, wheat and vine fields dominate the picture. about architecture, the Moorish influence is unmistakable in the Alentejo.

DAY 1:

Arrival in Porto and welcome by our local guide, and transfer with a Panoramic journey to the chosen hotel in Porto.

DAY 2:

In the morning you will start the tour of Porto, Port wine capital with all major attractions of the City. Every visit to Porto would be incomplete without a boat trip and a visit to a port winery with port wine tasting. Then you go further to the Minho region, thought Barcelos, where the guide will explain to you the famous history of the Portuguese rooster! Braga, one has, and always been important religious centre of Portugal. Because of its many churches, it is also flatteringly referred to as "Portuguese Rome". To conclude this rich day, you visit Guimarães, the first capital of the newly created Kingdom of Portugal and birthplace of the first Portuguese King Alfonso I. Here we visit the well-preserved and impressive castle and walk from there through the beautiful streets of the old town.

DAY 3:

The Atlantic Ocean is far away, small narrow roads meander uphill, downhill in curves. After breakfast, our trip will lead us to Chaves through Peneda Gerês National Park. Drive through an impressive region to reach the heart of the port-growing region.

DAY 4:

Historic slate villages, Monsanto, Belmonte, Serra da Estrela, Fundão and Portalegre. Especially beautiful are the villages Povoa Dao, Nelas, Seia and Belmonte, which is dominated by the massive granite of its castle. The Serra da Estrela, the highest mountain range in Portugal, and enjoy the secluded nature. In the surroundings there are many picturesque medieval villages with narrow streets, flowered balconies and some well-preserved castles, which you can reach on meandering serpentine roads.

DAY 5:

The area has many medieval villages and traces of past cultures. The town of Fundão is characterized by the great quality of a unique product: the cherry, the main ingredient of the cherry festival, which takes place every year in June. On the way, the mountain towns of Castelo de Vide are visited with its flower-filled streets and small parks. Our next destination is called Marvão a sleepy town, which is about 860 m high and is still completely surrounded by a city wall from the 13th century.

DAY 6:

In the morning you will discover Estremoz, a fortified town, very typical Alentejo and probably one of the most beautiful villages of this region. Continue to Évora is the very Moorish capital of the province of Alentejo. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 because of its beautiful closed cityscape. Through the province of Alentejo, it goes a gentle, seemingly endless landscape until you finally reach Lisbon and the highlight is the view over Lisbon from the platform of Christ the Redeemer. Then on to the glorious discoveries of over 500 years, Belém suddenly catapulted to the limelight of world history.

DAY 7:

A special tour with the motto "With charm and style", combined with the historic district of Lisbon. Then on to the glorious discoveries of over 500 years, Belém suddenly catapulted to the limelight of world history. Learn about the voyages of discovery and the Portuguese Empire, the largest and most influential in Europe. Our next step is Sintra. For century’s favorite residence of the Portuguese royal family. Always along the coast, the ride leads to the westernmost point of Europe - Cabo da Roca, passing the beach of Guincho, which is popular because of its winds and surfers. Into town you reach the fishing village Cascais, with the brightly painted fishing boasts. One of the most popular and classy seaside on the Lisbon coast. Afterwards we drive back along the coast to Lisbon, where we have a panoramic view of the casino and the gardens of this "Portuguese Riviera".

DAY 8:

Enjoy once again a last Portuguese cafe and the warming sun. The bus takes the guests to the airport Lisbon, also here they are again accompanied by our guide.
