IBERIAN FEELINGS


Fascinating north of the Iberian Peninsula.
On our Northern Portugal and Galicia round trip we discover the cultural highlights and beauty of Portugal and the northern Spanish Galicia with the pilgrim city of Santiago. The UNESCO Old Portos at the Douro estuary, the historic university city of Coimbra, the fascinating, lively Spaniard. An absolute must on your trip to Galicia are the Rias Bajas and the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, the legendary destination of the Way of St. James
DAY 1:

Arrival in Porto and welcome by our local guide. Panoramic journey to the hotel in Porto.

DAY 2:

In the morning we start through Porto's streets and cross streets with the sightseeing of major attractions. Every visit to Porto would be incomplete without a boat trip and a visit to a port winery.

DAY 3:

Excursion toward Minho region over in Barcelos, where our tour guide will tell you what is going on with the famous Portuguese rooster on it! Braga, one has always been important religious center of Portugal. Because of its many churches, it is also flatteringly referred to as "Portuguese Rome". As a conclusion you visit Guimarães, the first capital of the newly created Kingdom of Portugal and birthplace of the first Portuguese King Alfonso I. Here we visit the well-preserved and impressive castle and walk from there through the beautiful streets of Old Town. Then return to the hotel in Porto.

DAY 4:
You leave the city of Porto and driving in the direction of Aveiro, located on the multi-branched lagoon Ria de Aveiro with its 45 km long lagoon landscape. Aveiro is therefore often compared to Amsterdam and Venice. Especially in summer, life in Aveiro takes place on the water. Aveiro's culinary specialties: Ovos Moles a culinary specialty of Aveiro.
Figures from a kind of dining paper, filled with a mass of egg and sugar. Furthermore, the bus goes to Figueira da Foz, a famous seaside resort on the mouth of the Mondego River.
There are long sandy beaches here. In the late afternoon we reach Coimbra. former capital of Portugal, romantically located on the Mondego river. Coimbra has a great past and is home to one of the oldest universities in the world, and the cityscape is dominated by the more than 13,000 students. After visiting the main building, the library, the chapel and the senate room of the university, you will have time to stroll along the old streets and visit the cathedral.
DAY 5:

Departure from Coimbra to the Douro port wine growing region and on the way we visit the town of Viseu and take a walk through the old town with a jumble of winding streets lined with Manueline windows, old blacksmith workshops and quirky little shops. Lamego in the midst of a green, flourishing area rises in Lamego, the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios with its wonderful Baroque staircase (686 steps).

DAY 6:

The Douro Valley is one of the most exciting landscapes in Portugal. The scent of oregano and thyme is in the air, the sun shines on the shimmering river landscape. Then, take a boat trip along the beautiful vineyards past small villages and numerous wineries and visit a traditional port winery where a tasting awaits you.

After driving through the magnificent scenery of northern Portugal to reach around noon Salamanca. The beautiful city has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Impressive Plaza Mayor is in the center, one of the most beautiful places of Spain, surrounded by numerous historic buildings, and of course the university, with its 800 years one of the oldest in Europe.

DAY 7:
Is known for many reasons as the city of the Spanish language. It is located in the part of Spain where the cradle of High Spanish is Castile. Then we leave the city of Salamanca and head towards Zamora, known as the capital of Romanesque art, due to the numerous sights lined with streets and squares, including the beautiful cathedral.
DAY 8:

Today you will visit the "City of the Apostle". Through the narrow streets of the granite-built old town, which was declared a World Heritage Site in its entirety, it goes to the end of the Way of St. James, the magnificent cathedral.

DAY 9:

Today we leave Spain and drive back to Portugal visiting the "Spanish fjords" (Rias Bajas) on the way and crossing unique landscape like the island La Toja, Ría de Arosa and the city Pontevedra. In Viana do Castelo, the city dates back to the 13th century and is particularly impressive for its central square, the Praça Da República and the three-shell Renaissance fountain.

DAY 10:
Adeus. Goodbye.
Unfortunately, it is time to say goodbye to Portugal today.
Enjoy once again a last Portuguese cafe and the warming sun. The bus transfer brings the guests to the airport, here they are accompanied once again by our tour guide.
